Virtual Event Partnering with California Pharmacy Lawyers (CPL)

This event serves as an opportunity to connect and collaborate with legal leaders to discuss critical and emerging pharmacy legal issues and get a fresh perspective on law and legal pharmacy education. You will have direct access to dynamic presentations that focus on current and emerg­ing trends around pharmacy law and practice.

As a CPhA member benefit, we are providing one complimentary registration ($250 value) to all pharmacists and pharmacy technician members! Attendance will provide each attendee with 6.5 CE hours with 1 hour satisfying CA Code of Regulations §§ 1732,5(b).

Anne Sodergren, Executive Officer, California Board of Pharmacy

Anne Sodergren is the Executive Officer of the California Board of Pharmacy. Ms. Sodergren has over 25 years of experience with the Board, having served in various capacities. Most recently she has served as the Board’s Interim Executive Officer and over the last 10 years as the Assistant Executive Officer where she had leadership responsibility for the day to day operations of the Board and worked in partnership with its 13-member board in carrying out their objectives. Ms. Sodergren has significant experience in policy development, legislation, strategic planning, budgets and personnel management.

Elizabeth Akhparyan Park, PharmD, Chief Consultant 

After having been awarded the 2017 CPhA Student of the Year, Dr. Elizabeth Akhparyan received her PharmD degree in 2017 from the Western University School of Pharmacy, in Pomona, CA. She then completed her Post-Graduate Year One Pharmacy Practice Residency with an emphasis on Geriatrics. During her residency Elizabeth lectured at the World Congress of Clinical Pharmacy Practice in Rome, Italy advocating for Inter-Professional Approach to Geriatric Care. Additionally, Elizabeth placed second for her poster in Assessment of Adherence to Renal Dosing Guidelines in Patients with Document Chronic Disease at the California Long Term Care Medicine Annual Meeting. Dr. Akhparyan successfully restructured antibiotic stewardship program at the Jewish Home for the Aging in Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Akhparyan now works as Principal Regulatory Consultant in her startup company, the Simplified Medicine Consultancy firm, based in Irvine, CA. She consults outpatient and inpatient pharmacists, and performs operational gap analyses, regulatory risk mitigation, and remediation strategies for long-term care, hospital, and community pharmacies.

 

Tony J. Park, PharmD, JD, Principal Attorney, California Pharmacy Lawyers

Principal attorney, Tony J. Park, PharmD, JD, brings unique insight and expertise based on his vast former experiences: as pharmacy manager of a chain drug store, as owner of multiple pharmacy-related businesses including an independent Hispanic pharmacy, home care company, secondary wholesaler, billing & reimbursement agency service, home nursing agency service, and closed-door pharmacy. He was also owner and Pharmacist-In-Charge of a compounding-only pharmacy licensed as one of the first “licensed sterile compounding“ facilities in California. He is also currently a legislative advocate, an adjunct professor of pharmacy law and ethics, and a pharmacy continuing education speaker.

As one of the very few Pharmacist-Attorneys in California, Tony J. Park, PharmD, JD, has extensive experiences across numerous areas of pharmacy practice. He is passionate about representing clients in governmental agency enforcement actions, educating individuals about changes and developments in regulatory healthcare law, and consulting new and existing businesses about current and future opportunities in healthcare.

Date transfers will be subject to a $150 transfer fee, any cancellation will not receive any refund and refunds will not be made for no-shows the day of the conference.

Continuing Pharmacy Education:

The California Pharmacists Association (#0113) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Upon completing an evaluation form, participants will be awarded up to 6.5 hours (0.65 CEUs) of Continuing Pharmacy Education Credit. A statement of credit will not be issued. Participants may log onto the CPE monitor website using their individual log in to download their statement of credit. Please allow 4 weeks for processing of CPE credits to the CPE monitor.
