Immunization Update 2018


An up-to-date knowledge of CDC immunization recommendations is essential for pharmacists furnishing vaccines independently in California. This program will focus on key changes to the CDC immunization schedules and the clinical recommendations on which they are based. Patient cases will be used to highlight updates to influenza, zoster, and other routine vaccines for use in adult and pediatric populations. Additionally, California Immunization Registry (CAIR) reporting and compliance with SB 493-related regulations will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Utilize the CDC immunization schedules to recommend patient-specific vaccines.
  • Review important updates to clinical recommendations for influenza, zoster and other vaccines.
  • Describe key issues involved in compliance with California Business and Professions Code section 4052.8.

The California Pharmacists Association (#0113) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.
