Community Pharmacists Provide PrEP: Expanding Novel Model of Care in HIV Prevention via Collaboration in the Community On-Demand Series

Expanding PrEP access nationally is going to require additional PrEP providers. Community pharmacists are well positioned to assist in changing the arc of the HIV epidemic. This CE will review the need for PrEP, what is required to start PrEP in a community pharmacy, training of personnel, and financial model considerations.

NOTE: This video is not meant to satisfy SB 159 requirements, nor has been approved under the statute to fulfill the necessary requirements for pharmacists to provide PrEP.  This video is an overview on community pharmacy based PrEP and is based on a review of the literature published up to August 2019. The video is solely meant to provide guidance and recommendations for pharmacies and pharmacists to consider when implementing PrEP in a community pharmacy.
